Three kitchens for nurseries, primary schools, a ballet school and the newly founded company "Vivention Food & Events": with a wide ranging offer, catering specialists "Kreative Gemeinschaftsverpflegung" (creative community catering) set highlights in Hamburg and the surrounding area.
Kreative GV: fresh, healthy and efficient
Direct and distance catering as well as an innovative party service are on the agenda of managing director Rainer Bothe, who is keen to further expand his innovative community catering company “Kreative GV”.
One focus of his work is providing catering services to children in nurseries and primary school who get to eat fresh food, most of which originates from eco-friendly sources and sustainable production. "Around 80 percent of the food that we prepare is organic," highlights kitchen chef Thorsten Fröling, "and many of the parents are very happy about that."
Around 6,500 meals are prepared and served up each day in three kitchens – a school kitchen in Halstenbek, the kitchen at the Hamburg ballet centre – a school kitchen in Halstenbek, the kitchen in the Hamburg ballet centre – John Neumeier – as well as the large “Landwehr 11-13” kitchen, as well as being delivered via distance catering to 56 nurseries and 10 primary schools.
Children will always eat. Catering for this target group guarantees a reliable degree of scale in terms of production and calculation. Along with the approximately 120 meals at the ballet school that are prepared and served up every day, it is from there that a further 600 portions are delivered to thankful young consumers. Around 200 of these meals fulfil the criteria of specific dietary formats. “This is an important component in the scope of our overall service,” explains Rainer Bothe, “we have positioned ourselves as specialists in the preparation of meals for children who suffer from food allergies.
In addition to this, the kitchen at the school in Halstenbek prepares approximately 1,000 meals per day, around two thirds of which are sent to additional primary schools on the basis of distance catering.
The entire production and distribution system is based on a sophisticated logistics system, the hub of which is the large-scale “Landwehr 11-13” production kitchen and scullery in Hamburg. Cooking for the distance catering also takes place here, and the food – including the food prepared for those with specialist dietary requirements – is prepared and delivered to the customers in temperature-controlled vehicles.

While the crockery itself is washed locally at the nurseries and schools, it is still necessary for all of the cooking equipment from around 70 facilities, including the cooking and kitchen crockery from the large production kitchen in the connected “Landwehr 11-13” scullery to be cleaned so that they are hygienic and safe. Recently, the M-iQ warewashing machine, the flagship product of the longstanding Offenburg-based company MEIKO, has come into use for this task. “Everything that is returned by the customers, the food containers, packaging boxes, thermal boxes, transport containers, etc. is cleaned in the M-iQ,” explains Rainer Bothe.
These items are joined by all the equipment from the production kitchen such as crockery, baking trays and tins as well as ladles and so on. Then there are the glasses, plates, cups and cutlery, etc., from the outdoor catering, the “Vivention” party and event service – they all find their way into the M-iQ. “This is our first ever MEIKO machine,” says Rainer Bothe, “and I haven’t regretted buying it for one moment.” During the tendering it went up against two additional machines from other manufacturers and convinced us with its superb performance forecast in the consumption of energy, water and detergent. “At the same time the company “Kreative GV” also received financial support from the investment bank of Hamburg for new energy-efficient equipment. “30 percent of the investment was paid for,” says Rainer Bothe looking back, praising the work completed by Sabine Sörensen (MEIKO agency/Hamburg) towards the authorities. According to the predictions, the machine is set to pay itself in a relatively short time, “we are currently reviewing our inventory,” explains Rainer Bothe. “Above all, it is important to us that the machine is able to clean baking trays, food containers, covers and trays etc. quickly and efficiently. Our new M-iQ has a conveyor system that cleans a lot of dirty crockery in a short time and is not labour intensive either. In comparison with the old days, everything is a lot easier.”
With his newly founded company “Vivention Food & Events” Rainer Bothe has completed his offering in the area of creative community catering.
